Agartala, Dec 22: The 11th state conference of the Tripura Leather Workers’ Association was held on Sunday at Bhanu Smriti Bhavan in Agartala. Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar attended the conference as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Sarkar strongly criticized both the state and central governments, alleging that the unchecked rise in prices of essential commodities has pushed common people into severe distress.

He said the soaring cost of living has made survival difficult for workers and people from economically weaker sections.

During the conference, detailed discussions were held on the present challenges faced by the leather industry in Tripura, its potential for growth, and the future roadmap to protect the interests of leather workers.

Former MLA Sudhan Das, along with leather workers and representatives from various parts of the state, were also present at the event.
