Agartala, July 17: Mayor and local MLA Dipak Majumdar today visited the Lake Chaumuhani Market in the heart of Agartala to inspect ongoing issues related to unauthorized encroachments. During his visit, he expressed concern over a section of traders conducting business by illegally occupying government land.
Majumdar stated that complaints had been received from both buyers and sellers about difficulties faced due to these encroachments. “The market has been inspected earlier as well, and instructions were issued to small traders to vacate illegal stalls. However, some are still violating the rules,” he said.
The Mayor emphasized that steps are being taken to ensure smooth functioning of the market for both buyers and sellers. He reiterated the administration’s call to all traders who have been occupying roads and public spaces illegally to vacate them at the earliest.
He also announced that the Agartala Municipal Corporation is planning to construct permanent sheds for these small traders to ensure they have a proper place to do business in a legal and organized manner.
