The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is making significant progress toward introducing electric train services in southern Assam and Tripura as soon as possible, officials reported on Friday.

According to an NFR official, a successful trial run of the first electric locomotive-powered goods train took place on Thursday.

The train operated between Badarpur station in southern Assam and Jirania station in Tripura, located approximately 15 kilometers north of Agartala railway station.
