The purchase of paddy at the minimum support price has commenced at Dauchhra Bazar Natmandir in West Ghitatali of Kalyanpur block. This initiative, organized jointly by the Department of Food, civil supplies and Consumer Affairs, and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, aims to support farmers by ensuring fair prices for their produce.

MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury inaugurated the paddy purchase program, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to doubling farmers’ incomes by buying paddy twice a year at the minimum support price. This year’s purchase rate is set at Rs 2,183 per quintal, with a target of acquiring 250 metric tonnes of paddy from farmers over the next four days concluding on June 29.

The event highlighted the direct payment of the purchase price into farmers’ bank accounts, ensuring a transparent and efficient process. Additional SDM of Teliamura Sub-Division, AK Chakraborty, along with other officials, addressed the gathering. Kashiram Burman, President of the Kalyanpur Panchayat Samiti Standing Committee on Agriculture, presided over the event.
