Tripura has asked Bangladesh to clear Rs 135 crore in electricity dues amid growing “anti-India activities” in the country.
Sources said , The move comes after an alleged attack on an Agartala-Kolkata bus which was travelling through Dhaka on Saturday in Bangladesh’s Brahmanbaria district.
During the incident, a group threatened passengers and shouted anti-India slogans.
The Tripura state government has demanded urgent payment of the electricity bill amounting to 135 crore from Bangladesh.
It is learnt that Tripura State Electricity Corporation, the electricity supplier of Tripura state, has already written a letter to the interim government of Bangladesh seeking the due amount.
