Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Tripura next month to inaugurate multiple projects, including the launch of the Vande Bharat Express connecting Agartala and Guwahati. The state government has reached out to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to confirm his availability for the event.
India’s fastest train, the Vande Bharat Express, is set to begin operations on the Agartala-Guwahati railway line, making it the first Vande Bharat service for Tripura. If all goes as planned, the train will soon be operational, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities.
The Vande Bharat Express will cover the 571 km journey in just 7 hours, cutting down the current travel duration of 12 hours by 5 hours. The train will halt at Ambassa, Dharmanagar, New Karimganj, Badarpur Junction, and Hojai before reaching its final destination.
As per reports, the train is scheduled to depart from Agartala in the morning, offering a faster and more efficient travel option for passengers.
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is making significant progress toward introducing electric train services in southern Assam and Tripura as soon as possible, officials reported on Friday.
According to an NFR official, a successful trial run of the first electric locomotive-powered goods train took place on Thursday.
The train operated between Badarpur station in southern Assam and Jirania station in Tripura, located approximately 15 kilometers north of Agartala railway station.
