Agartala, Dec 17: Former Tripura Chief Minister and sitting Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving financial assistance of Rs 1.25 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the treatment of a cancer patient from West Tripura.
The beneficiary, Poonam Dey, a resident of East Champamura under Old Agartala in West Tripura, is undergoing advanced cancer treatment. She is the daughter of Debal Dey. Following an appeal from the family, MP Biplab Kumar Deb promptly took up the matter with the Prime Minister’s Office and forwarded the request to the PMNRF.
The financial assistance was sanctioned within a short span of time, enabling the patient to receive crucial medical support without delay. Deb remarked that Prime Minister Modi has consistently demonstrated compassion and sensitivity towards patients requiring urgent and advanced medical care.
Expressing his gratitude, Deb said that in most cases where medical assistance requests are submitted, the Prime Minister personally ensures swift approval, reflecting his commitment to the welfare of citizens.
He added that the latest sanction once again highlights the Centre’s humane approach and dedication to supporting families battling serious illnesses, strengthening public confidence in national relief initiatives.
