Pradyot Questions IPL, BCCI Over Rs 9.20 Crore Deal for Bangladeshi Cricketer

Agartala, Dec 22: Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, royal scion of Tripura and founder of the Tipra Motha Party, on Friday questioned the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the purchase of Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman for ₹9.20 crore.

Reacting to the development, Debbarma alleged that such decisions once again expose the neglect of talented cricketers from India’s North Eastern states.

He said that despite having immense potential and skill, players from the region continue to be overlooked at the national and franchise levels.

Debbarma urged the cricketing authorities to ensure fair opportunities and proper representation for players from the North East, stressing that talent should be recognized beyond geographical boundaries.

Tipra Motha party supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Sunday strongly criticized Minister Bikash Debbarma over his alleged remarks, terming them uncivilized and reflective of a “goonda culture.”

Addressing a press conference, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman said that making statements about “tearing someone apart like a chicken” cannot be considered civilized language.

He demanded that the Chief Minister should take appropriate action against Minister Bikash Debbarma over the issue.

Clarifying his stand, the Tipra Motha chief said that he was speaking out against violence in all forms. Responding to questions from journalists regarding the upcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections, he categorically ruled out any alliance with the BJP, stating that Tipra Motha will contest the elections independently in the hill areas.
