Agartala, June 18:
A protest march was organized in Agartala city on Tuesday to condemn the recent attack on the ancestral home of world-renowned poet Rabindranath Tagore in Shahjadpur, Bangladesh.
Various cultural personalities, writers, lawyers, and citizens participated in the march, which commenced from the premises of Maharani Tulsi Bati School. State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Bhattacharya also took part in the procession.
The march moved through different streets of the capital city and concluded in front of Rabindranath Bhavan. Participants raised slogans denouncing the incident in Bangladesh and demanded justice for the insult inflicted upon the memory of the Nobel Laureate.
Speakers at the gathering described the attack as not just a blow to a poet’s legacy, but an assault on the collective soul and cultural heritage of the Bengali nation. They urged the Bangladesh government to take immediate and strict action against those responsible for the incident.
