The State Election Commissioner has ordered re-polling at one polling stations in connection with the ongoing ADC elections.
The SEC has announced a re-poll at polling station 17/39 under the Pekurjala-Janmejoynagar constituency in Sepahijala district following allegations of tampering with a ballot unit. The re-poll is scheduled to be held on April 16.
According to an official statement, the Commission has taken serious cognizance of certain incidents reported during the polling process at these centers. Based on credible video evidence and reports submitted by election observers, it was preliminarily established that some individuals allegedly made malicious attempts to vitiate the electoral process by tampering with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Such actions, the Commission stated, posed a threat to the conduct of a free and fair election.
Viewing the matter with utmost seriousness, the State Election Commissioner has directed that re-polling be conducted at the concerned polling stations. The re-poll will take place on April 16, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, under strict supervision to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
