SDM inspects Feni River water level due to heavy rains in Sabroom; administration on alert

Sabroom SDM Suman Rakshit went on an on-site inspection on Thursday morning to assess the situation after the water level of the Feni River on the India-Bangladesh border increased due to continuous rains.

He was accompanied by officials from the Flood Control Department and the subdistrict administration. During the inspection, the subdistrict administrator monitored the water level of the Feni River from the India-Bangladesh Maitree Bridge.

He said that the water level of the river is currently flowing below the danger level. However, late on Wednesday night, the water level of the river reached 16.80 meters, very close to the danger level, causing concern among the residents of the border villages.

Meanwhile, the state meteorological department has forecast more rainfall in the next few days. Keeping that situation in mind, the Department have been put on high alert, said Subdistrict Administrator Suman Rakshit.

He also said that the administration has made all kinds of preparations to deal with any possible flood situation. In addition, the subdistrict administration team will regularly visit various border villages and monitor the situation.
