Agartala, Dec — The political atmosphere in Tripura has begun to heat up ahead of the upcoming elections following controversial remarks by Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman.
Addressing the 6 Agartala Block Congress Committee representatives’ conference at Nowgaon on Sunday, Roy Barman issued a stern warning to Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He said, “If you commit any misdeed under the pressure of the BJP, not even a single blow will fall on the ground.”
His statement has sparked widespread discussion among administrative circles, political observers and those involved in election duties.
Roy Barman claimed that in previous elections, the ruling BJP used its organizational influence to disrupt the voting process. He stated that his warning was intended as a precaution to prevent any electoral irregularities in advance.
However, political analysts and several political insiders have interpreted the remark differently. They argue that such threats stem from political frustration and reflect the Congress’s long-standing aggressive political culture. According to them, the statement appears more like a tactic to assert political influence rather than a genuine attempt to safeguard the electoral system.
Experts also caution that such intense rhetoric ahead of the polls could raise concerns regarding the neutrality of administrative operations and the safety of polling personnel during the election process.
