Surrendered Militants Withdraw Indefinite Blockade Following Government Assurances

Agartala, June 24: The indefinite blockade of national highways and railway tracks called by surrendered militants under the banners of the Joint Action Rehabilitation Committee (JARC) and the Joint Action Committee (JAC) was withdrawn on Wednesday morning after the state administration assured them of addressing their demands.

The two organizations had launched the agitation demanding the fulfillment of a seven-point charter of demands, causing significant disruption to road and rail communication across several parts of the state.

According to sources, the state government has assured the organizations that necessary steps will be taken to address the issues raised by them. Following these assurances, the leadership of JARC and JAC decided to call off the blockade.

With the withdrawal of the agitation, normalcy has gradually begun to return across the state. Road and railway services resumed in several affected areas, including Baramura, bringing much-needed relief to commuters and transport operators.

Leaders of both organizations stated that the decision to withdraw the movement was taken in view of the government’s positive response and commitment to consider their demands.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as public transportation and daily activities continue to return to normal.
