Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurates water treatment plant at Fatikroy

The government is determined to provide access to clean drinking water to the people of the state.

The present government is working in a mission mode in the entire state to achieve this goal.

Drinking water and sanitation minister Sushanta Chowdhury said this while inaugurating the drinking water purification plant in Rajnagar village panchayat of Fatikrai.

The plant has a capacity of 10 lakh 20 thousand gallons per day.

The approved project cost of this drinking water treatment plant is Rs 28 crore among which 12 crores have been spent.

4,607 houses in Fatikarai, Gokulnagar, Krishnanagar, Rajnagar, Sayedarpur and Radhanagar villages will get drinking water connections after the completion of the drinking water purification project.
So far drinking water connection has been provided to 299 houses.

While inaugurating the drinking water purification project, Drinking Water and Health Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, “Water is life. We are very happy to inaugurate this project with people as witnesses”.

He said that the Jal Jeevan Mission was announced after the formation of the Narendra Modi led government at the Centre with the objective to bring purified drinking water to every household through pipelines.
This program is also underway in mission mode in the state.

In Unkoti district, around 60 percent of the houses have piped drinking water and the remaining 40 percent houses will be connected to water within a few months.
