The government is making efforts to provide clean drinking water to the people of the state. The department is working in mission mode to provide clean drinking water connections through pipelines in rural areas of the state under Jal Jeevan Mission. This is being implemented regardless of any party preferences, enunciated Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Sushanta Choudhury after inaugurating Sabroom Division office of DWS department yesterday.
The DWS Minister said, 4 new Divisions have been opened to implement Jal Jeevan Mission in the state. Division offices of DWS department will be opened in Amarpur, Jirania and Kanchanpur sub-division also other than Sabroom. He said, drinking water connections through pipelines have been provided to more than 4 lakh 6 thousand households in the state recently. The department has taken target to deliver drinking water connection to every household in 67 Ciram Panchayat and ADC villages of Sahroom sub-division
MLA Sankar Roy said, the Sabroom Division office has been opened to ensure quick implementation of providing drinking water connection to every household under Jal Jeevan Mission in Sabroom sub-division. Welcome speech was delivered by Chief Engineer Shyamlal Bhowmik of DWS department DWS Supervisor Engineer Pranoy Kumar Das, Executive Engineer Bijoy Dehharma and Ritesh Debbarma and social activist Santipriya Bhowmik were also present there. The inaugural programme was presided over by Chairperson of Sabroom Nagar Panchayat Rama Poddar Dey.
