Agartala, July 25: The Tripura Fishermen’s Union staged a protest in front of Raj Bhavan today, pressing for the fulfillment of their 13-point charter of demands.
The protest rally commenced from Paradise Chowmuhani and passed through various streets of the city before being halted near the Circuit House by the authorities. A public meeting was subsequently held at the spot.
Later, a delegation of the union proceeded to Raj Bhavan and submitted their memorandum to the Governor.
Prominent Left leaders including former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury and several other Left party workers and supporters participated in the protest.
