There is no need for people to panic about the new changes in India’s laws: Biplab Deb

“Union Home Minister Amit Shah has brought changes in the Indian law to replace the British-era legal system for public justice.

In this case, a system of investigation and trial has been put in place for crimes related to hit and run, organized crime and mass laundering.” Rajya Sabha MP and former Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb said this while addressing a press conference at the State Guest House in Agartala on Monday.

Incidentally, truck drivers across the country, including Tripura, have been protesting ever since the central government brought changes in Indian laws.

Truck drivers think that they will face financial and social losses due to the law including the jail sentence. Drivers called this new law ‘a black law’. Through nationwide protest, drivers demanded immediate withdrawal of the law.

MP Biplab Kumar Deb said, “The changes made in the Indian law would protect the public. Union Home Minister Amit Shah made changes in the Indian law based on thousands of tests, opinions of different states, eminent persons, legal experts, retired judges of the Supreme Court, all MPs.”

In favor of the law, he said, “In many cases, someone has been killed by being crushed by a car to satisfy a personal grudge. The incident was termed ‘hit and run’ and the criminal was not punished.”

Biplab Deb said that the amended Indian law would provide trial-based justice for all offences through investigation.
