There is still lack of awareness among the general public about blood donation. If this obstacle can be removed, there will never be a shortage of blood for urgent needs in the future.

Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while inaugurating a blood donation camp at Tapoban Ashram in Gokulnagar of Bishalgarh sub-division yesterday. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a hostel at Tapoban Ashram.

The Chief Minister also performed puja at the ashram on that day. Inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp and Hostel, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha further said that blood donation has a different feeling, which has no comparison. Blood donation creates a sense of brotherhood among people.

The Chief Minister said that as a result of blood donation, the sick patients are benefited as well as the blood donors. At present, the state has about 42 thousand units of blood in stock, which is slightly more than the requirement of the state.

Chairperson of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Supriya Das Dutta, MLA Antara Sarkar Deb. Chairman of Bishalgarh Panchayat Samiti Chanda Debbarma, Chairman of TIDC Nabadal Banik, Superintendent of Police of Sepahijala District B Reddy and Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate Binay Bhushan Das were present among other guests on the occasion. A total of 11 people donated blood in the blood donation camp.
