TPSC Chairman detained after alleged scuffle with security personnel at Agartala hotel

An alleged altercation involving the Chairman of the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), Colonel Kush Kumar Sharma, and the security personnel of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury led to a tense situation in the city on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred at Hotel Polo Tower, where the minister had attended a summit of expatriate Tripura residents.
According to sources, after the programme concluded, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury requested that his official vehicle be brought to the front of the hotel. At that time, the vehicle of the TPSC Chairman was reportedly parked at the same spot. When a security personnel asked the chairman’s driver to move the vehicle, an argument ensued.

It is alleged that during the altercation, TPSC Chairman Colonel Kush Kumar Sharma became aggressive, grabbed the security guard by the collar, and attempted to push him. There are also allegations that the chairman was not in a sober state at the time of the incident. The situation quickly escalated, prompting senior police officials to rush to the spot.

Following the incident, the TPSC Chairman and his son were detained and taken to the New Capital Complex police station for further inquiry. Police are looking into the matter, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
