People in India are living under distress: Manik Sarkar

Agartala, Sunday: The 10th State Conference of the Sabhasundar Development Association commenced on Sunday morning at Bagma in Udaipur.

Former Tripura Chief Minister and senior CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar attended the conference as the chief speaker.

CPI(M) Central Committee members Ratan Bhowmik and Dilip Dutta, along with several other state-level leaders of the organization, were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the conference, Manik Sarkar alleged that a situation of anarchy has prevailed across Tripura since 2018, affecting not only members of the Sabhasundar Development Association but also the general public. He urged all democracy-loving people to unite and launch a collective struggle against what he described as growing lawlessness in the state.

The former Chief Minister further stated that people in both the country and the state are living under distress, with the prices of essential commodities rising daily, posing serious challenges to the survival of common people. He criticized the central government, alleging that it has failed to take effective steps to control price rise and safeguard public interests.

Referring to the prevailing situation in Tripura, Sarkar claimed that incidents of murder, terrorism, robbery, violence against women, and intimidation of opposition supporters are occurring regularly, while the administration remains a silent spectator. He called upon people from all sections and regions of the state to unite and work together in the coming days to restore democracy and rule of law.
