Agartala, December 26: The undersigned is directed to state that Government of Tripura has learnt with profound regret that Biswabandhu Sen, Hon’ble Speaker, Tripura Legislative Assembly has passed away on 26.12.2025 at 0330 hrs at Bangaluru. On 27th December, 2025, dead body of the departed dignitary will be brought from Bangaluru to Agartala.
As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the State Government has decided that State Mourning will be observed throughout the State for 3 (three) days w.e.f. 26th to 28th December, 2025 (both days inclusive). During the period of State Mourning the National Flag will be flown at half-mast throughout the State and there will be no official entertainment.
It has also been decided by the State Government that all the offices of the State Government (including those located outside the State)/PSUs and all Educational Institutions will remain closed on 26th December, 2025.
State Funeral will be accorded to Biswabandhu Sen, Hon’ble Speaker, Tripura Legislative Assembly on 27.12.2025.
The Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and MLA from the Dharmanagar constituency, Biswabandhu Sen, passed away on Thursday, leaving the state in deep mourning.
Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha expressed profound grief over his demise. In a condolence message, the Chief Minister said, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswabandhu Sen.
His untimely death is an irreparable loss for the people of the state.” He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, relatives, and followers of the late leader.
The Chief Minister further added, “I pray to the Almighty God for the eternal peace of the departed soul and also pray that his family finds the strength to overcome this difficult time.”
Several other leaders, including Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLA Deepak Majumder, and others, also expressed their condolences and paid tribute to the departed Speaker, remembering his contribution to the state and the Assembly.
