Agartala, Jan 12: A convention was held on Monday at the Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala by the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), along with various left-wing trade unions, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, and other organizations, to ensure the success of the nationwide mass movement scheduled for February 12.
Former minister Manik Dey, along with leaders of different trade unions and farmers’ organizations, attended the convention. Addressing the gathering, the speakers alleged that the policies of the central government have adversely affected the lives and livelihoods of workers, farmers, and the common people.
They stressed that a united and organized movement is the only effective way to protest against these policies. Emphasizing the need for solidarity, the leaders called upon all sections of society to actively participate in the upcoming movement.
The convention resolved to intensify agitations across the state in the coming days and to ensure the complete success of the nationwide strike on February 12.
