A 100-seated ST Girl’s Residential Hostel was inaugurated by Tribal Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia today through a small programme at Women’s College. Others present there were Secretary of Tribal Welfare department L.. T. Darlong, CEO of TTAADC C. K. Jamatia, Additional Director of
the department Anandahari Jamatia and Principal of Women’s College Manidipa Debbarma. While discussing in the programme, the Minister said, the government is encouraging the ST students to attain quality education. If given proper opportunities, the ST students can perform well.
That is why the present government is building such residential hostels so that ST students do not have to face any kind of difficulty in attaining quality education. The state government is sincere towards providing education to the tribals, their socio-economic and infrastructural development. He also said, through Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachhata Abhiyan, cleanliness has been emphasized upon.
It is to be noted the two-storied building has been built at the cost of 3 crore 33 lakh 47 thousand rupees. The construction was done under the supervision of West Division Executive Engineering Division of TTAADC was responsible for it. The construction work was started on March 22, 2021 and was completed in October, 2022.
