Preparations for the upcoming Village Committee (VC) elections have officially begun, with the issuing detailed guidelines for the preparation and finalisation of polling stations.

In a notification issued by SEC Secretary , all Returning Officers, who are serving as respective Block Development Officers (BDOs), have been instructed to prepare polling station lists in accordance with the Village Committees (Conduct of Election) Rules, 1996.

According to the schedule released by the Commission, the draft list of polling stations will be published on May 11. Claims and objections may be submitted till May 15, while disposal of objections will be carried out on May 16. The final list of polling stations is scheduled to be published on May 18.

The SEC has directed officials to prepare block-wise polling station lists covering all Village Constituencies under their jurisdiction. It also instructed that polling stations should be serially arranged from the north-west to south-east direction.

Copies of the draft polling station lists will be distributed to recognised political parties and displayed at the offices of Returning Officers and Village Committees for public inspection.

The exercise is being carried out ahead of the forthcoming general elections to the Village Committees under the TTAADC.
