Agartala, Nov 7: Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman has once again found himself at the center of controversy following his recent remarks targeting the CPIM.

Speaking at an event on Thursday, Barman said, “Friends, don’t be offended, CPM couldn’t give, CPM is a mess — they are a mess. What kind of shelter will you give me!” His statement has triggered intense discussions across political circles in the state.

Before the 2023 Assembly elections, the Congress and CPIM had joined hands to take on the BJP. However, that alliance now appears to be on the verge of collapse. While CPIM leader Jiten Chowdhury has been openly criticizing the Congress, Barman’s recent comments have further exposed the widening rift between the two parties.

Political observers believe that the ongoing exchange of barbs between the Congress and CPIM is weakening the opposition camp in Tripura, potentially creating a more favorable situation for the ruling BJP.
