Tripura: First Dengue-Related Death Reported In Tripura

The first death from dengue infection occurred in Dhanpur, Sonamura subdivision in the state. The deceased, Subhash Sarkar (65) is a resident of the Sankhmura area of Dhanpur.

The incident has raised serious concerns as for the past two weeks, dengue has been rapidly spreading in the region, affecting several residents.

Earlier, the health department hesitated to acknowledge the dengue outbreak, resulting in an uncontrolled situation. However, Subhash Sarkar’s son disclosed that his father had symptoms of fever and was taken to Dhanpur Primary Health Center.

Afterwards, the patient was referred to Sonamura Social Health Center and then to Tripura Medical College (TMC) in Agartala. The family members were unhappy with the services offered at TMC and decided to transfer Subhash Sarkar to a private hospital, where he later passed away due to the infection on Monday night.

The health department called for an urgent meeting at Sonamura Social Welfare Center to address the escalating situation. The meeting was convened to discuss different approaches to tackle the dengue outbreak and alleviate the growing public concerns.
