Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Puneet Agarwal, the Principal Secretary of Revenue department said that the Bru resettlement process is going on according to the quadripartite agreement signed between the Centre, Government of Mizoram, Bru leaders and Government of Tripura.
He said that the Tripura government is working to resettle Bru people by February 2023.
He added that the government has identified a total of 37,136 Bru people of 6,959 families from seven Relief camps in North Tripura district and they will be resettled to new twelve locations.
The principal secretary said that till now 4102 Bru families have been rehabilitated and various benefits are being provided to them according to the agreement.
He added that the remaining families will be resettled by February 28 next year.
He also highlighted the rehabilitation locations, which are Bongaphapara in Longthorai Valley, Haduklaupara and Kaskau in Ambassa, Bhandarima- Pushporampara and Gachirampara in Kanchanpur, Wainbukcherra- Ranipara, Hamsapara and Khakchang in Panisagar, West Kalajhari in Amarpur, Ultacherra of Gandacherra, Kala Lawgang of Santirbazar and Shilacherra of Karbook.
