Agartala, July 1: Expressing concern over the rising incidents of violence against women and children across Tripura, the Pradesh Mahila Congress on Wednesday organized a protest and gherao of the State Women’s Commission in Agartala.
Led by Pradesh Mahila Congress President Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty, party workers staged a demonstration demanding stronger action against crimes targeting women and children.

Addressing the protest, Sarbani Ghosh Chakraborty called for a fair and impartial investigation into the murder of Manisha Das, immediate arrest of those responsible, and exemplary punishment for the accused.
She alleged that incidents of violence against women have been increasing in the state and urged the authorities to take prompt and effective measures to ensure the safety and security of women.
Warning of intensified agitation, the Mahila Congress president said that if their demands are not fulfilled immediately, the organization will launch a statewide movement in the coming days.
