Tripura police arrests man imitate Chief Minister’s Undersecretary

A young man was finally caught while cheating the dignitaries of the state by breaking the name of the Chief Minister. The name of the accused is Palash Banerjee.


Pranab Sarkar, editor of Headlines Tripura, who exposed the cheater, said that the accused called from a number on Monday morning said that he is the Chief Minister’s Secretary and the Chief Minister had told him to send two mobile phones immediately for the election campaign in East Tripura.


Sarkar became suspicious of the accused and reported the matter to a senior official of the state police. However, the issue was also brought to the notice of the Chief Minister. Later the concerned cyber crime branch was informed.


After that, a plan was made to catch him red-handed by handing over his mobile phone. Accused Palash Banerjee fell into the trap of that plan.


Pranab Sarkar said that at one time the accused spoke in a threatening tone. He also threatened that the consequences would be very bad if he did not give the mobile. The accused also threatened Saikat Banerjee, the owner of Sonar Tari Hotel in Agartala in a similar way.


A sensation has already been created in view of such incidents. Fraudsters are creating new ways of cheating. The accused are trying to create fraud or conspiracy by breaking the name of Chief Minister and Chief Minister’s office.


It is believed that the same accused tried to entrap several others in a similar manner and made off with a lot of money. In view of this incident, the police of West police station of Agartala has already taken strict legal action.
