The temperature is steadily rising in several districts of Tripura, raising fears of a prolonged heatwave. Dr. Partha Roy, a prominent scientist from the Meteorological Department has issued a strong warning, predicting temperatures to remain higher than usual for the next five days.
Dr. Roy predicts temperatures will exceed 35 degrees Celsius in many districts, well above the seasonal average. Agartala experienced a scorching 37.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, a four-degree deviation.
On Monday, temperatures remain high at 37 degrees Celsius, 3.7 degrees above normal. Rain is expected in Dhalai, North, and Unakoti districts over the next three days, offering some relief.
Dr. Roy advises completing outdoor activities early in the day due to rising temperatures and the risk of heat-related illnesses later on.
Due to the rising temperatures, people are struggling with the intense heat and are relying on sugarcane juice and canned water to stay hydrated.
Unfortunately, the heatwave is starting to have negative effects, with reports of people falling ill after being outside for work or other activities. There have been cases of pedestrians suffering from heat exhaustion, leading to emergency responses and hospitalizations.
The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day, prioritize hydration, and use cooling methods. Authorities are on high alert due to the ongoing heatwave, closely watching the situation to protect residents from the intense heat.
