On Tuesday, Ratan Lal Nath, the Power Minister of Tripura held a meeting with Bhupendra Yadav, the Union Minister of Forests and Environment, to seek approval from the Pollution Control Board for the expansion of the Rukhiya Thermal Power Project in Tripura so that it can produce 120 Mega Watts electricity.

Minister Nath on his Facebook handle said that various environmental matters were also discussed in the meeting.

The Power Minister wrote, “I went to the Parliament House in New Delhi and met the Union Minister of Forests and Environment Bhupendra Yadav on various issues related to the environment, including the Pollution Control Board’s clearance for the Rukhiya Thermal Power Project’s expansion”
Nath said that he was impressed by the union minister’s hospitality and unique efforts for the development of Tripura.

Nath further said that the Union Minister has maintained a positive attitude throughout the discussion.

He added, “I visited the Union Ministry of Forests and Environment under his management and held discussions with the officials regarding the issue.

We are optimistic that in the coming months, we will be able to commence a fresh phase with the Rukhiya thermal power project, once all the obstacles have been resolved. After the successful resolution, the power generation capacity of Rukhiya (currently 63 MW), will be boosted to 120 MW.”
