Tripura student killing: Police send team to Nepal; CM Dhami promises strict action

Dehradun/Agartala, Dec 29:
The Uttarakhand Police have dispatched a special team to Nepal in an effort to arrest the sixth accused in the murder of a Tripura student in Dehradun.

The victim, Angel Chakma (24), a resident of Unakoti district in Tripura, was pursuing an MBA at a private university in Dehradun and was living there with his younger brother, Michael.

According to police sources, the incident dates back to December 9, when Angel reportedly got into an altercation with Suraj Khawas (22) and five others at Selakui market in Dehradun. The dispute soon escalated, and the accused allegedly assaulted Angel using knives and brass knuckles.

Angel sustained critical injuries in the attack and succumbed to them on December 26 while undergoing treatment.

Police have already arrested five of the accused, while the sixth is believed to have fled to Nepal, prompting cross-border action by the Uttarakhand Police.

Further investigation is underway, and authorities have assured that all those involved in the crime will be brought to justice.
