In a move that has disrupted normalcy, the militant organization TUIRPC has enforced a blockade on the Assam-Agartala National Highway today. This blockade is part of the group’s ongoing protest in response to their 21-point demand, despite the Tripartite Peace Accord signed earlier.
The highway blockade has led to significant delays for commuters and vehicles traveling between Assam and Agartala, with many passengers expressing frustration. However, authorities have stated that emergency services and exam candidates will be granted exemption from the blockade to ensure vital operations continue smoothly.
While the blockade raises concerns, it highlights ongoing grievances related to the region’s unresolved issues, despite attempts at peace through formal agreements. Security forces are on high alert, but there are currently no reports of violence or clashes.
