The Ld. Court of District & Session Judge, Court No. 3, West Tripura, Agartala on 11/10/2023 has convicted and sentenced two (02) accused persons namely Shri Krishna Saha @ Kishan(32) S/O Lt. Dasarath Saha of West Joynagar, under West Agartala Police Station and Shri Sajal Barman (22) S/O Bijoy Barman of Joynagar under West Agartala Police Station in connection with Case No. SPL(POCSO) 34/2020 arising out West Agartala Women PS Case No. 16/2020, dated 26/02/2020, U/S 366/376(AB)/376(DA)/506 IPC and 6 of POCSO Act to suffer Life Imprisonment for the reminder of natural life for the commission of offence punishable U/S 376(DB) of IPC and 06 of POCSO Act.

The brief fact of the case is that in the month of January of 2020 both the accused persons Krishna Saha @ Kishan and Sajal Barman committed rape upon a 5 years old minor girl in their house at West Joynagar under West Agartala Police Station.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Investigating Officer WSI Emily Nandy of West Agartala Women PS (now posted at R.K Pur Women PS, Udaipur) thoroughly investigated the case and submitted charge sheet which subsequently ended in conviction.
