Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik inaugurated a survey camp for specially abled citizens at Sachin Devvarman Auditorium in Belonia on Tuesday.
She said that the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has taken various welfare programs for the specially abled citizens of the country. The benefits of these programs are being extended to everywhere in the state.
It is noted that such camps will be held for 12 days in 9 places in South Tripura district. The program began with the inauguration of the camp at the Sachin Devvarman Auditorium.
Physical observations of specially abled people and over 60 aged citizens of Bharatchandranagar block and Belonia municipal area were done in Tuesday’s camp.
Such camps are being organized to provide them special support materials. These camps are being held under the National Age Scheme and ADIP Project.
The Union Minister of State said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has named the specially abled individuals as Divyangjan to pay them special tribute.
She said that certificates were issued only for 7 types of physical disabilities in the past. Now certificates are issued for 21 physical disabilities.
