Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the 41st Agartala Book Fair at Hapania International Fair Grounds on Friday.
The 13-day long 41st Agartala Book Fair started Friday, March 24 with the theme ‘Vasudhaiba Kutumbakam, Agartala Book Fair’.
While inaugurating the book fair, CM said, “When you read a book, that reading stays in your mind and brain. There is no substitute for books. Reading books is very necessary for the expansion of consciousness”.
Chief Minister Saha said, “I am overwhelmed by the crowd of excited people present at the book fair today. A strange atmosphere has been created in the presence of books and the younger generation.
The book fair, which started in 1981, is being held today at the Hapania International Fair Ground in another form”. He also said that the reading rate among students has decreased in the digital age.
CM further said that if someone does not read a book, they feel a lack of well-thought consciousness in their body. He asked students to buy textbooks as well as other books at the book fair.
CM praised the book fair organiser, Information and Culture Affairs Department, as the number of stalls increased on the occasion. He expressed hope that the tradition of the book fair will continue in the future as well as its growth.
