Sonamura, Oct 13: In a joint operation conducted by Sonamura Police Station and the Border Security Force (BSF), 150 mobile phones of various brands were recovered from the UNC Nagar border area under Sonamura Police Station.
According to police sources, no owner has yet been identified for the seized mobile phones. The Sonamura Police have launched an investigation to ascertain who brought the devices and for what purpose.
Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura Police Station, Tapas Das, informed that the operation took place around 12 noon. The estimated market value of the recovered phones is approximately ₹30 lakh.
Police officials further stated that strict surveillance will continue along the border to prevent such incidents of smuggling in the future.
