Belonia, July 24: A delegation of the 6th State Finance Commission visited South Tripura district today as part of its state-wide review of developmental needs and fund allocations. On this occasion, a key meeting was convened at the conference hall of the Belonia Circuit House to discuss various issues related to local governance and infrastructure.

The meeting was chaired by Commission Chairman Abhishek Singh, who is also the Secretary of the Rural Development Department. Notable attendees included South Tripura District Magistrate Md. Sajjad P, Commission Member Secretary Akinchan Sarkar, Urban Development Department Director Megha Jain, Panchayat Department Director Prasun De, and South Tripura Zilla Parishad President Deepak Dutta.

Also present were Chairpersons of Belonia and Shantirbazar Municipal Councils, Sakram Nagar Panchayat, Block Advisory Committees of various blocks, and members of various Standing Committees and Village Committees across the district.

During the meeting, public representatives held detailed discussions on development-related matters including the implementation of welfare schemes, fund allocation, and infrastructure projects. Key focus areas included road connectivity, drinking water supply, construction of paved drains, and increasing own-source revenue for panchayats and local bodies.
