Khowai, July 28: Tension erupted in Purba Takchaiya village under the Champahao Police Station area of Khowai district after a group of miscreants allegedly attacked a house where villagers were listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program.
According to Khowai Superintendent of Police Rana Ranaditya Das, the incident occurred around 11:30 AM at the residence of Surjit Debbarma. Villagers had gathered there to listen to the Prime Minister’s address on their mobile phones when a group of bike-borne miscreants, allegedly affiliated with Tipra Motha, attacked the premises.
The attackers reportedly vandalized two cars and nine motorcycles parked at the location. They also stormed into the house, assaulting those present. Four people sustained injuries in the incident, with one youth seriously hurt and admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
Upon receiving information, police personnel from Champahao Police Station, along with the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) and the Superintendent of Police, rushed to the scene with additional security forces.
SP Rana Ranaditya Das confirmed that a case is being registered against the accused, and assured that strict legal action will be taken. The situation is currently under control, with a heightened police presence in the area to prevent any further escalation.
