Howrah River Touches Warning Level in Agartala; Administration on Alert

Agartala, July 8: The water level of the Howrah River in Agartala reached the warning level on Tuesday night following continuous rainfall, prompting authorities to keep a close watch on the situation.

According to the Water Resources (WR) Sub-Division, Agartala, the water level recorded at the Jahar Bridge gauge station in Battala was 9.86 metres at 11:00 PM, exactly matching the official warning level.

As per the department’s data, the critical level of the river is 10.72 metres, while the danger level is 11.22 metres. The extreme danger level has been fixed at 11.72 metres.

Officials said the river is being monitored continuously, and any further rise in the water level due to ongoing rainfall may require precautionary measures in low-lying areas. Residents living along the riverbanks have been advised to remain alert and follow updates issued by the authorities.

The administration has urged people not to panic but to stay vigilant as weather conditions continue to be monitored.
