Agartala, Dec 19: A review meeting on the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana (PMKSY) was held on Thursday at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala under the chairmanship of Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
Addressing the meeting, the Agriculture Minister said discussions were held on strategies to conserve rainwater, expand irrigation facilities, strengthen agricultural development, and economically empower farmers. He expressed confidence that Tripura would achieve self-sufficiency in food production, including potatoes, by the financial year 2028–29.
Ratan Lal Nath informed that 30 blocks of the state have already become self-sufficient in food production, while five more blocks are expected to achieve this status within the current year. He also mentioned that funds under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana are being utilized in a planned manner and will be fully spent by January 15 to maximize water use for agricultural purposes.
