Bangladesh Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said that the train service between Akhaura and India’s Agartala will start from next June.
He expressed hope that the work of Akhaura-Agartala railway will be completed by March-April 2023.
He added, “This will strengthen the relationship between the two countries. This project is very important for both countries”.
As the Government of India gives importance to it, so does the Government of Bangladesh.
The construction of the bridge has been completed. Approaching in progress. So the work will be finished”. It is reported that this railway will extend up to 10.5 kilometers starting from Agartala railway station in Tripura, India to Gangasagar railway station in Bangladesh.
Although initially the project was 14.26 km, later its length was reduced.
Among them, 6.5 kilometers of Bangladesh section of Dhaka-Chittagong railway will meet at Gangasagar railway station in Akhaura sub-division of Brahmanbaria.
