Kadamtala, June 24: Allegations of widespread irregularities and corruption have surfaced in road repair works carried out under Kalagangerpar Gram Panchayat in Kadamtala Block of North Tripura district. Local residents have questioned both the quality and quantity of the work executed despite the issuance of work orders worth several lakhs of rupees for the repair of dilapidated rural roads.

According to allegations, an estimate and work order amounting to approximately Rs 3,35,089 were sanctioned for the repair of various roads within the panchayat area. However, residents claim that the allocated funds were not properly utilized and that several works remain incomplete.

One of the major allegations concerns the brick soling work carried out on the road in front of the residence of the Panchayat Pradhan. While around 4,000 bricks were reportedly allocated for the project, local people allege that only about 1,200 bricks were actually used.

Residents have also alleged that nearly 200 metres of the road stretching from Ranibari Road to the residence of Azir Uddin remains unfinished despite funds having been sanctioned for its repair. Similar complaints have emerged from Ward No. 5, where locals claim that repair work on approximately 300 metres of road from Kalagangerpar Higher Secondary School to the residence of Mainul Haque was shown as completed without the actual work being fully executed.

Local residents said they have repeatedly brought the matter to the attention of the block administration and concerned authorities, but no effective action has been taken so far. They have demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities and appropriate action against those found responsible.

The allegations have triggered concern among residents, who are calling for greater transparency and accountability in the implementation of rural development projects.
