Allegations of Substandard Pulses in Government Supply Spark Outrage at Agartala Ration Shop

AGARTALA: Severe concerns have been raised regarding the quality control mechanisms of the state’s public distribution system following the arrival of a poor-quality consignment of pulses at Ration Shop No. 6 in the Jaynagar area of the capital.

According to ration shop authorities, workers noticed an unusual smell, off color, and significantly deteriorated quality as the consignment was being unloaded from the delivery vehicle. The shop staff immediately raised objections and halted distribution, stating that food items of such low quality could not be distributed to the public. Reports suggest the condition of the pulses was so poor that it was unfit even for animal or bird consumption.

The incident has sparked serious questions about how the substandard supply managed to pass through multiple tiers of government quality control prior to delivery. Shop authorities and local residents are demanding a thorough investigation into the oversight and strict action against those responsible.

As news of the consignment spread, public anger grew among local consumers who rely heavily on government rations, pointing out that delivering spoiled food poses severe health risks to the community.
