The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of Rs 150 crore to the Tripura Government in an effort to accelerate the progress of the industrial sector.
This loan will be utilized for enhancing and improving 15 Industrial Estates within the state.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced that he recently met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Niti Ayog, where he emphasised eight key development initiatives undertaken by the state government.
Regarding infrastructure and investment, Chief Minister Dr. Saha mentioned that the State Government has significantly raised its Capital Expenditure.
CM Saha said, “Capital expenditure increased from Rs. 835.00 crore in the fiscal year 2020-21 to Rs. 2200 crore in the financial year 2022-23, showing a remarkable annual growth rate of approximately 62%.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have played a significant role in boosting cross-border trade between Tripura and Bangladesh, considering that 84% of the state’s border is shared with Bangladesh.
Chief Minister Dr. Saha mentioned that while two Industrial Estates, namely Bodhjung Nagar in the West District and Kumarghat in Unakoti are currently in good condition.
He added, “The State Government plans to introduce the ‘Tripura Medical Tourism Policy’ in the near future. This policy aims to position Tripura as a hub for wellness tourism by providing incentives for the establishment of yoga and wellness retreats, ayurvedic parks, naturopathy centers and panchakarma centers.”
