Belbari, June 24: A bike was recovered from a deep forest adjacent to the roadside in the Belbari area, along the Jampuijla–Jirania route, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, a local farmer from Belbari spotted the abandoned bike while taking his cow to his farmland. He immediately informed the police about the matter.
On receiving the information, a team from the Radhapur Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the bike. It was subsequently brought to the police station for further investigation.
Locals and police suspect that the bike might have been stolen and later dumped in the forest by a group of thieves. It was also noticed that the vehicle’s number plate had been removed, which has strengthened the suspicion of theft.
Police sources informed that a message regarding the recovery has been sent to all police stations across the state to trace the bike’s rightful owner and investigate any possible links to recent theft cases.
Further investigation is underway.
