Agartala, June 4: The indefinite bus strike announced by the West Tripura Bus-Jeep Drivers’ Association, affiliated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), has been called off following the intervention of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
The association had earlier decided to suspend bus services across the region in protest against an incident that occurred at Nagerjala on Wednesday.
However, after discussions initiated by the Chief Minister, the organization agreed to withdraw its strike programme.
According to the association, Baradowali Mandal President Shyamal Kumar Dey held talks with representatives of the drivers’ body on the Chief Minister’s initiative. During the meeting, he assured them that a proper investigation into the incident would be conducted and that the matter would be taken up for due legal proceedings by June 6.

Satisfied with the assurance provided by the government, the association decided to resume normal operations and withdraw the proposed indefinite strike.
The decision has brought relief to thousands of daily commuters, as normal bus services will continue without disruption across West Tripura. The association also stated that it remains hopeful of a fair and transparent inquiry into the matter.
