Agartala, July 15: The CITU Sadar Sub-Division Committee on Wednesday organized a protest march and rally in Agartala, demanding the fulfilment of various demands concerning workers, farmers and the general public.
The protest was attended by CITU State Committee General Secretary Shankar Prasad Dutta along with other leaders and members of the organization.
Addressing the gathering, Dutta said the primary objective of the protest was to demand the repeal of the labour codes, alleging that they are against the interests of workers.
He also called for a reduction in electricity tariffs, withdrawal of smart meters, restoration of the previous 100-day work scheme under MGNREGA, and fixation of a minimum daily wage of ₹700 for workers.

He further demanded immediate steps to control the soaring prices of essential commodities and urged the government to repair roads in various parts of Agartala that have remained in poor condition for a long time.
The rally passed through different parts of the city before concluding with a protest meeting, where the leaders reiterated their demands and urged the government to take prompt action.
