Amarpur: The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Amarpur, Anupam Chakraborty, addressed a press conference on Monday, alleging that a distorted video has been circulated from a CPIM-affiliated social media account. The video, originally an awareness message about flood safety, was allegedly edited on July 7 to malign the SDM’s image.

Anupam Chakraborty stated that parts of the original message were deliberately cut and manipulated to spread misinformation about him. He condemned the act, describing it as “disgusting and deplorable” and urged people to refrain from such malicious activities.

According to public opinion, such fake propaganda is damaging CPIM’s credibility further. Once known for opposing the use of modern technology, the party is now actively using social media to spread false narratives among the general public, Chakraborty remarked.

An investigation into the matter is reportedly underway.
