Ex-TMC state president, Cong leader join BJP in Tripura

On Wednesday, two prominent opposition leaders, one from Congress and the other from Trinamool Congress joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura.

Both leaders claimed that neither Congress nor TMC were genuinely committed to secure their political future in Tripura.

The former Tripura Pradesh Congress Media and Communication Cell in-charge Prasanta Bhattacharjee, expressed his discontent and frustration with the Congress.

After joining the BJP on Wednesday, he accused that the Congress party has disregarded the sacrifices of all workers who stood by the party during challenging times.

Bhattacharjee said, “The Congress has become a bankrupt party. Although a major section of the Congress workers opposed the pre-poll adjustment with the CPIM, one leader (Sudip Roy Barman)’s interests outshined the decision.

Meanwhile, Asish Lal Singh, a senior leader from Trinamool Congress also joined the BJP on Wednesday after a lengthy tenure with TMC.

He expressed admiration for the developmental initiatives undertaken in Tripura under the BJP government.
Notably, Singh is the son of Sachindra Lal Singh, who served as Tripura’s first chief minister.
